Kingdom of Saudi Arabia GACAR Part 145 & GACAR Part 43 for Repair Stations – Initial – 2 Days

Introduction –

Civil aviation has a long history in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. In the early years of civil aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the aviation activity was not formally regulated. As aviation activity increased and international safety norms evolved, it became necessary for aviation regulations.

The first aviation safety regulatory approach implemented in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was to adopt the aviation safety regulations published by the United States of America. These regulations served the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia well but they did not properly address the unique characteristics of civil aviation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Eventually the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia promulgated its own set of civil aviation regulations but these regulations were still based, in large measure, on the regulations of the United States of America. With the publication of the GACAR, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia now has civil aviation regulations covering all aspects of civil aviation activity in the Kingdom.

For mechanics working on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia registered aircraft or aircraft components in a Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) environment, it is essential that they have a good understanding of GACAR Part 43 Maintenance, Preventive Maintenance, Rebuilding and Alteration. GACAR Part 43 sets the requirements for what kinds of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia registered aircraft mechanics can work on, who can work on the aircraft, and who can sign off the aircraft’s logbook. It also defines the standards for the work which is performed, record keeping requirements, and ensures that an aircraft is “airworthy” after work has been performed.

GACAR Part 145 Repair Stations sets forth safety standards necessary to inspect and maintain aircraft and aircraft parts. These safety standards ultimately benefit the maintenance personnel, passengers, and flight crew. For example, Subpart C Housing and Facilities requirements are designed to keep maintenance personnel safe and provide a safe working environment, while Subpart E Operating Rules result in a safe aircraft that can be used by the flight crews to provide a safe and efficient mode of transportation.

This training course describes in detail GACAR Part 43 and GACAR Part 145 and the relationship to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia air carriers for a foreign certificated repair station located outside the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
