Since 2009 the requirement to implement a proactive Safety Management System has become an obligation placed on each member state.
 
Within the European Environment we have a regulatory requirement driven by EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) which mandates the need for a fully implemented SMS system within Operators, MRO’s and Design organisations alike  
 
One of the core requirements for a successful SMS is an effective method of identifying and controlling risk.
 
From the organisational point of view we have 2 challenges. The first is to ensure compliance with all obligations. The second is to drive genuine organisational benefit in terms of safety performance.
 
Sofema Aviation Services Trainings focus on the organisation benefit as a primary objective with the secondary (but of course Mandatory) need to ensure we fully comply with all requirements.
 
The most significant aspect of introducing an effective SMS is to understand the methodology of how the mechanics of implementation is covered. During the Sofema Aviation Services day SMS Introduction and Implementation training all significant implementation challenges are reviewed.
 
The other key area is the process of handling the hazard identification, risk assessment & mitigation process.
