Q/ What service does Sofema offer to support the achievement of EASA Part 147 approval.
A/ Essentially whilst it is your organisations responsibility to obtain (and maintain) the EASA Part 147 approval, our role is to:
a) support the process by offering as much or as little assistance as you require;
b) Provide training, consultancy and guidance at each stage of the process;
c) Assist you to develop the Maintenance Training Organisation Exposition;
Q/ How long does it take to obtain EASA Part 147 Third Country Approval?
A/ Depending on the degree of readiness of your organisation it would be fair to consider a period of 9 months to 15 months as a reasonable period with which to base your initial assumptions.
There are many factors to consider as part of the initial process including:
a) The size of your organisation;
b) Whether you are planning to provide basic and or type training;
c) The availability of facilities to support the approval;
d) The preparedness of your quality system, documentation and MTOE.
Established in 2008 Sofema Aviation Services provides regulatory training, guidance and consultancy support to organisations wishing to obtain EASA Part 147 approval.
Our support is flexible and is focused on the specific needs of your organisation in consideration of your current manpower and competence availability.
Sofema Aviation Services (SAS) is able to support your organisations to:
a) Understand the regulatory obligations associated with obtaining EASA Part 147 Approval;
b) Provide EASA Compliant Regulatory to all concerned Nominated Persons and other personnel;
c) Support the preparation of the Maintenance Training Organisation Exposition (MTOE);
d) Support the Competence Development of Post Holders, Training Managers, Instructors & Examiners;
e) Support the application to EASA on “EASA Form 12”.
EASA will support the following :
On receipt of the application EASA Applications & Procurement Department will check the application for eligibility to
a) ensure that the application is complete & acceptable
b) that the certification process can be carried out in a reasonably timely manner
Once an application has been accepted, an estimate of the fees & charges to be paid by the applicant in order to cover the certification tasks is established iaw the Fees & Charges Regulation
Once the payment has been confirmed EASA will provide the applicant with:
The Preliminary approval number (a suffix “P” indicates the pending status of the approval (for example EASA.147.XXXXP)),
The applicant will be notified by EASA and provided with the relevant contacts. (The applicant is then requested to take contact with this surveyor in order to organise with him the review of documents
SAS Support
SAS will support this process by assisting with the preparation of (MTOE, Form 4s, course material, exam questions, etc…)
Once the initial audit and the review of all documents are completed, and after all findings are closed, the surveyor sends to EASA a recommendation form 22 in order to allow the granting of a Part 147 approval.
