Developing your EWIS Training options Sofema Aviation Services provide a solution as part of the Train the trainer Program. SAS provide support to deliver your own in house EWIS Training.

EASA has mandated the requirement for EWIS Training specifically with the Part 145 organisation, this is EWIS Training for staff in groups 1 and 2.  Sofema Aviation Services has launched a unique 3 day training which assists the organisation to  satisfy the requirement of Group 1 and Group 2 training.

Unique because it is part of the train the trainer program and the organisation can receive the right to use the material for its own training purposes. Trainers who are required to deliver EWIS training may also benefit from SAS Human Factors Train the Trainer 2 day intensive course.

The training needs for EWIS have been identified by EASA in a document  issued in August 2008  AMC20- detailing  the different groups including Maintenance Staff required to inspect or work on EWIS electrical wiring interconnect systems.

The training includes an understanding of the ongoing management and assessment of competencies, for example how is a person assessed against the necessary skills, knowledge and experience requirements? Different Assessment processes depending on the size and nature of the organisation. (In a small organisation may be performed by the Quality Manager) Often including a formal element of assessment using nominated assessors. A nominated assessor process provides a controlled means to approve individuals to perform the assessment activity. As with any organizational process , this one too, needs to follow the same guidelines :- Effective Documentation of Procedures Effective Control, Effective Management, Effective Oversight. Who is going to deliver this requirement? Supervisors, Managers or full time Assessors?

Anyone performing maintenance or alteration should do the work— in such a manner and use materials of such a quality that the condition of the aircraft, airframe, aircraft engine, propeller, or appliance worked on will be at least equal to its original or properly altered condition (with regard to aerodynamic function, structural strength, resistance to vibration and deterioration, and other qualities affecting airworthiness).

Anyone performing maintenance must use methods, techniques, and practices prescribed in the manufacturer’s current maintenance manual or in Instructions for Continued Airworthiness prepared by the manufacturer, or methods, techniques, and practices.
