The EASA 145 / GCAA 145 Stores Management and Inspection System is an essential element of the 145 approval. It must be managed and staffed by trained and competent staff. This training is designed to cover all elements which are essential to the effective management and operation of a fully compliant store.
The Aviation Stores Inspector is the first line of defence to support the 145 organisations obligation to maintain diligent oversight of all incoming material to ensure it complies with all requirements. In addition to ensure that vendors are managed in accordance with the organisations supplier evaluation system.
The following information provides general support and guidance information to assist the Incoming Inspector to carry out all elements of the required process. If there are any doubts the part should be placed in Quarantine and the Quality Manager contacted for resolution.
Check the packages(s) for transit damage
The package should be carefully examined to ensure that it is not suffered from any obvious damage during the delivery process. Any indications of superficial damage should be noted and appropriate action taken
Check packaging / container as other smaller units may be inside
Ensure that a careful check is made of the contents and that there are no additional items included
Look for warning signs on the exterior of the package unit(s) may require special handling
Make note of any instructions which may indicate the need for special handling or other considerations
Check unit(s) for damage
Examine the Unit and check that there is no evidence of any damage
Check units received are correct to order
Contents should be checked against the supplied order to ensure that it is correct.
Check the documentation is correct
Documentation should be fully compliant with all EASA / GCAA requirements
Check the system details match
Check that the receipt system details are correct (if applicable) and that repair order instructions have been complied with.
Once satisfied complete the receipt process
Ensure units correctly packed before sending for storage advising of any special storage requirements.
If the unit is to be repackaged ensure that standard procedures are applicable
Distribute copies of the certification in accordance with the company procedures
The organisation shall have a process to manage the incoming documentation, ensuring that the Form 1’s which are required to become part of the continuing airworthiness records are entered into the Continuing Airworthiness Technical Records System
In summary
Please take care to ensure the items are correct; make sure that the Items are free from damage, that all Items have the correct documentation.
In addition to ensure that Serviceable tags are matched with the correct item.
Finally to ensure that at all times we pay particular attention to Quality over Quantity !
