ATO Safety Management System Training Course – 2 and 1/2 Days

Introduction -

The introduction of Regulation (EU) 965/2012 saw the formalization of requirements for Safety Management Systems in ATOs.

This course was developed aimed specifically at Air Operators required to implement the new regulatory requirement, as opposed to other courses which handle SMS requirements in a more general manner with no specific applicability to the Air Operator environment.

- Requirements of Safety Management Systems in Annex IV to Regulation (EC) 216/2008
- Requirements of Safety Management Systems (SMS) in ORO.GEN
- Related Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) and Guidance Materials (GM)
- Requirements of Emergency Response Plan (ERP) in Annex IV to Regulation (EC) 216/2008
- Requirements of an ERP in ORO.GEN
- Related Acceptable Means of Compliance (AMC) and Guidance Materials (GM)
- Fundamentals of Risk Likelihood, Severity, Tolerability, Mitigation and ALARP concepts

Target Groups –

This course is aimed at anyone who is involved in the implementation, running or ongoing management of a Safety Management System within an Air Operator environment.

This course is also intended for anyone else wishing to undertake a role within the SMS or ERP of an ATO. It may also be suitable for any other individuals connected with any other aviation organisation who wish to expand their knowledge of the functioning of aviation systems (the SMS basic require ments are similar in most spheres of European Aviation).

Pre-requisites –

It is recommended that participants have at least a basic understanding of the principles behind Air Operator management systems however this is not essential.

Learning Objectives –

Upon completion of this course, it is anticipated that participants with average aptitude will be competent to undertake a role in the management of and/or an operational role within the SMS of an Air Operator.

Duration –

This course runs for 2 days when combined with either the Compliance Monitoring System or related Regulation Training Course or 2.5 days as a stand-alone course. Course commences at 09:00 and ends 17:00 with lunch break of 1 hour and coffee breaks in the morning and afternoon.
