EASA Part 21 Operational suitability data (OSD) Regulatory Obligations – 1 Day

Introduction

Since 2016 EASA has required Design Organisations to address the subject of Operational Suitability Data as part of the classification of changes and the Design Investigation Process.

What is Operational Suitability Data?
Operational Suitability Data (OSD) covers information produced as part of the type design relating to training and qualification of staff as well as a compilation of the MMEL.

The objective of OSD is to ensure that all information required by the crew to operate an aircraft is complete and covers all required aspects of the role.

OSD currently covers the following areas;
CS MMEL Master Minimum Equipment List
CS FCD Flight crew data
CS CCD Cabin crew data
CS SIMD Simulators
This course delivers a practical pathway to understanding and working with OSD within your Part 21 organization.
During the course, we will consider the challenges and issues which need to be overcome and successfully addressed.

Further Background:

-This 1 Day training is based on compliance with the OSD aspects of EASA part 21 (69/2014 and later).
-The course is highly participative and provides a full understanding of the various roles and responsibilities required to understand the OSD concept
-The primary focus of the training is to support the delegate’s need to understand the OSD concept and
how to apply the relevant parts of the regulation.

Who is the Course for?

It is for persons who are actively involved in the Part 21 Design Organisations including Accountable Managers, Compliance Verification Engineers, and Design Engineers, it is also useful for the Independent System monitoring staff and general management.

The course is appropriate for all DOAs whether or not you have Type design or STCs in your scope.

What is the Benefit of this Training What will I learn?

Delegates will achieve a detailed understanding of the following requirements:

EASA Part 21, ‘initial airworthiness’ requirements provide a framework for the definition of organisations involved in the design, modification, and repair of all aircraft types Part of the requirements in part 21 are to ensure that training/operating data is of an appropriate and consistent standard and is appropriate to the product it relates to.

The course provides an overview of OSD elements and will allow the candidate to understand how to classify changes to type design and OSD and produce documentation covering all OSD elements.
