These expectations differ greatly, depending upon how the equipment is designed and operated.It is a requirement an operator of large aircraft and when the Maintenance program is based on Maintenance Steering Group Logic (MSG) or on condition monitoring that the aircraft maintenance program shall include a reliability program. However, it should be understood that the primary purpose of the reliability program is in fact to support the effectiveness of the maintenance process. The purpose of a reliability program is to ensure that the aircraft maintenance program tasks are effective and their periodicity is adequate, in addition, the reliability program may result in the escalation or deletion of maintenance tasks, as well as the de-escalation or addition of a maintenance task.
