Introduction
The Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) process was developed by Boeing and is a proven and effective tool, for not only investigating the various causal factors, but in also developing mitigations.
The basic MEDA philosophy is based on an understanding that people do not intentionally make errors and that organizational factors play a significant and contributory role.
It is widely recognized that the majority of causal and contributory factors leading to an error can be managed. In addition developing root cause understandings, leads to a wider and more effective mitigation process.
This training is focused on developing practical investigation skills
The Delegate will develop an understanding of Maintenance Error Management and on completion will be able to:
a) Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all elements of MEDA process
b) Understand effective techniques for performing Practical Investigations.
c) Undertake Case Study analysis and practice completion of the MEDA Results form and Interview Process
Maintenance Error Management System & MEDA Practical Investigations Training is a 2 day industry specific training aimed at Training, Quality and Safety Personnel who have responsibility for gathering data, analysing, performing investigations and making recommendations for effective mitigation.
Who is the Course for?
It is for anyone with an interest to engage with an effective Maintenance Error Management System (MEMS) and to achieve a deeper understanding of Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) within an 145 Maintenance Organisation.
Essentially the course will be of interest to everyone who engages with the 145 Aircraft Maintenance Organisation from newcomers to the Leadership Team and Nominated Persons (Post Holders) wishing to understand the process and methodology related to maintenance error management.
Consider that understanding the MEDA process is the starting point – The real advantage is use MEDA as a Tool to provide “Data” to the SMS and to enable the optimisation of the business in the best way whilst remaining fully compliant with EASA Part 145 requirements.
What is the Benefit of this Training – What will I learn?
a) Awareness of the structure composition and impact of 145 Maintenance Error on the Organisation
b) Understand the forces driving 145 Maintenance Errors to focus your business decision process on improved engagement with employees
c) Ability to consider changes driven by MEMS Part and how they impact your specific organisation
d) Confidence in a detailed knowledge of the key components of MEMS
e) Have the knowledge to be able to implement MEMS within an Organisation
