INTRODUCTION –
This course will train aviation security personnel at managerial level to plan, coordinate and implement the application of airport security preventative measures in accordance with approved programmes.

Session 3: Security Communications.
Session 4: Manging/ Responding to a Security Incident.
Session 5: Recognition of Firearms IED’s, IID’s and Dangerous Goods.
Day 2
Session 6: Security Restricted Area
Session 7: Access Control and Security
Session 8: Airport Security Overview
Session 8: Quality Control.
Session 9: Motivating Others.
Day 3
Session 9: The Challenge of Passenger & Carryon Baggage Screening
Session 10: Hold baggage Screening Challenge
Session 11: Protecting & Searching Aircraft
Session 12: Q & A General open discussion
Session 13: Written Assessment, course debrief, course admin, goodbyes.
TARGET GROUPS –
The target population will be existing personnel at the supervisory level with the potential for promotion to the managerial level, and existing personnel at that level employed by the authority or organization primarily responsible for the application of aviation security preventative measures at airports.
PRE-REQUISITES –
Trainees should satisfy the following criteria:
a) Successfully completed the 123 BASIC training course
b) Successfully completed the SUPERVISORS Training
c) Have written and oral command of the language of instruction.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES –
Upon completion of the course, trainees will be able to:
a) Explain the origin and purpose of ICAO aviation security related legal instruments, Annex 17 and the Security Manual (ICAO Doc 8973)
b) Apply basic concepts of management to aviation security and explain the specialist role of the aviation security manager.
c) Plan, develop and organize the human and material resources necessary for the effective operation of an aviation security unit.
d) Plan and administer the financial budget for a security unit.
e) Advise on the development of aviation security programmes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
f) Monitor and enforce the implementation of aviation security programmes and SOP’s.
g) Verify that security personnel are able to implement aviation security preventative measures.
h) Advise on the development of airport emergency plans and manage the security response action necessary in security emergencies involving aircraft, terminal buildings and airport facilities.
i) Take part in aviation crisis management team as required.
j) Develop and implement AVSEC training for security personnel and other airport workers and users; and
k) Develop and maintain liaison with other airports and outside organizations and agencies.
DURATION –
3 days – Each day will commence at 09.00 and finish at 17.00, with appropriate refreshment breaks
