Rustom SutariaRustom Sutaria, is a graduate from Kingston University with a B.Eng. (Hons.) in Aerospace Engineering.  He also holds an MSc in Aircraft Maintenance Management from City University in London.

Rus has approximately 20 years’ experience within Aircraft Engineering and maintenance, of which 15 years has been spent working for various high-profile aviation businesses in Technical Services functions.

Starting his aviation career in 1993, Rus joined British Airways Engineering at London Heathrow Airport, where he worked as a project engineer preparing the airline for the arrival of the B777-200, amongst other management projects surrounding business process re-engineering.

From 1997 onwards he worked with a number of high-profile aviation businesses such as Monarch Aircraft Engineering & Maintenance as an Aviation Technical Services Specialist where he widened profit margin against 3rd part C4 Heavy check inputs.

Other organizations include TNT Aviation Services where Rus prescribed ‘Bridging-check’ packages for a Fleet of BAe146 QT aircraft that were involved in a cross-border fleet transfer or for sale in the secondary market, and contributed to the development of the TNT’s AMP for the Airbus A300-B4F.

From 2004 Rus joined a small Aviation Recruitment business called Atlas Engineering Ltd, where he assumed the role of Business Development Manager, and supported a number of key blue-chip international airlines and MRO businesses with recruitment planning and implementation.

In 2008 Rus launched himself as a completely freelance aviation consultant, which culminated in the formation of Avia Intelligence Ltd where he provides training and consultancy support to aviation in the arenas of safety, quality and continuing airworthiness.

In 2014, he was a part of a two-man project management team involved with the in-sourcing of CAMO functions, and the rollout of Trax (a CAMO/MRO management application) for a leading FBO in the UAE.

Rus is also a columnist with Aviation Maintenance Magazine with his regular ‘Hangar View’ articles, and contributes regularly with technical publications and white-papers for a number of organizations and professional bodies.

He is also an active member of both the Executive Council & Technical Development Group of the International Federation of Airworthiness (IFA), not least the Chairman of the IFA Awards Committee.  He is also a Member of the Royal Aeronautical Society.

With a background of technical services management in continuing airworthiness oversight, quality & safety, Rus works with Sofema to develop & deliver high quality training material in support of all EASA/CAR regulations, and is based in Dubai as Sofema’s training & consultancy representative for the Middle East & the Indian sub-continent.

SAS delivers training in many regions including East & West Europe, Middle East, Far East and Africa.  Courses are delivered both as in company, open training and online, with the maximum amount of flexibility courses can be tailored to the specific needs of the client.
