The European Union announced subsidies of up to €6/L for e‐fuels and €0.5/L for biofuels, supporting the purchase of over 200 million litres of SAF—about 15% of global output. The plan is funded via carbon‐permit revenues and aims to meet binding SAF targets of 2% by 2025 and 6% by 2030 .

> EU strengthens non‐CO2 emissions MRV (effective Jan 2025)
From January 1, 2025, the EU requires aircraft operators to monitor non‐CO2 climate effects per flight. By end‐2027, the Commission will report on non‐CO2 impacts and consider further legislation.

EU transport ministers agreed to increase the minimum delay required before airlines must offer compensation to passengers:
