>Singapore Airlines Group Hits 99% Of Pre-COVID Passengers In August
The Singapore Airlines Group looks increasingly like a snowball gathering speed and gets more extensive as it hurtles down a mountain. In August, the Group, which includes Singapore Airlines and Scoot, carried 99% of the passengers it had in August 2019 and is operating at 99% of its pre-pandemic capacity with a passenger load factor of 85.7%. >Air Belgium files for bankruptcy protection, axes pax ops
Air Belgium (KF, Brussels Charleroi) has filed for judicial reorganisation through an amicable bankruptcy protection agreement to address its debts and restructure. It will end its “chronically” unprofitable scheduled passenger operations on October 3 and focus on more viable cargo and ACMI business, the airline said in a statement. Read more

Australia’s leading low-cost carrier, Jetstar, is in trouble on both sides of the Tasman and facing court action in Australia and New Zealand for allegedly misleading customers about their rights to refunds and compensation. The airline faces serious allegations that may be tested in court, but it is more likely that some form of settlement will be reached before it gets that far. Read more
>Turkish Airlines to Start Direct flights to Sydney
Turkish Airlines has revealed plans to launch flights between Istanbul and Sydney by the end of 2024. The carrier will operate one-stop flights between Turkey’s Istanbul Airport and Kingsford-Smith International Airport in Sydney, Australia. Read more
>EasyJet Passengers Evacuate Via Emergency Slides After Vape Explosion During Boarding
A tiny explosion from within a passenger’s carry-on bag evacuated an easyJet aircraft on the ground. The aircraft was bound for London Gatwick from Heraklion, Greece, and the explosion was reportedly caused by a vape exploding within the passenger’s handbag. Read more
