> FAA Releases Part 135 Fatigue Recommendations
The FAA recently released a 77-page report from a government/industry group recommending that the agency adopt an alertness management program (AMP) concept for Part 135 operations to protect against pilot fatigue. While not made public until this month, the report containing the recommendations of the Part 135 Pilot Duty and Rest Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) was submitted to the FAA in July 2021. >> Ryanair Slashes Carbon Emissions with Winglet Retrofit
LONDON – Following a $175m agreement with Aviation Partners Boeing (APB), Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair recently installed Split Scimitar Winglets to the first of over 400 of its Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft. Read more

> UK Regional Carrier Flybe Ceases Operations
For the second time in less than three years, UK regional airline Flybe has ceased operations. The carrier, which struggled financially for some time despite several restructuring efforts, flew its last revenue service on January 28. Read more

>> Dubai remains the world’s busiest international airport in January 2023
Dubai International (DXB) held on to the top spot of the busiest airport for international flights in January, ahead of major hubs such as London Heathrow, Istanbul Airport and Singapore’s Changi Airport. Read more

> Enstrom Flies First New-production Helo Since Reopening
Enstrom has made the initial flight of its first new-production 480B since reopening eight months ago. The company stressed that the aircraft was not “an unfinished leftover airframe, but was built using components procured, machined, fabricated, and assembled on-site.” It was Enstrom’s 255th 480-series helicopter and 1,317th helicopter overall. Enstrom will display it in Booth C2820 at this year’s Helicopter Association International Heli-Expo from March 7 to 9 in Atlanta. The company plans to retain the aircraft and use it to certify new upgrades and planned improvements. Read more

Deliveries of airliners in 2022 significantly exceeded predictions with over 1,000 aircraft being delivered for the first time since 2019. Read more

> Second drone beyond line of sight operations waiver approved
The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma Beyond Program has received approval from the FAA for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLOS) operations using equipment from uAvionix. Read more
