Sofema Aviation Services (SAS) considers the essential elements required to ensure that the “emergency” can be managed in the best way.
The Importance of Aviation Emergency Response Team Engagement
To enable the successful operation of the ERP Crises Centre, it is necessary to ensure not only the availability of the required equipment but also the knowledgeable and competent staff to use the ERP Documentation and Checklists.
The Emergency Response Crises Centre (ERCC)
Typically most of the required equipment is available within the business and can be used or made available for the duration of the emergency.
Note – Emergency response operations must take precedence over normal activities, therefore, the assumption is made of course that the standard purpose of the needed equipment can be deferred for the duration of the emergency (or transferred to another resource).
General Equipment Availability
- Internet-enabled flat-screen TVs (Minimum 2) capable of monitoring international and local news channels through “Youtube” or direct via a provider.
Note – being able to record and playback will be advantageous.
- 2 x Integrated – Colour Printer / Scanner / Photocopiers – Fax Capability.
- Standalone Internet-Connected Computer with overhead projector and screen.
Each assigned work station should have:
- Either PC or Laptop, Consider that Laptops are preferred to desktop PCs to enable portability – (should it be necessary to evacuate the emergency response facility, you can take the laptops with you).
Note 1 – All necessary applications to enable ERP related information and services to those manning the facility must be functioning and current on all PCs / laptops.
Note 2 – All required ERP Documentation & Checklists should be pre-loaded on the PC or Laptop to enable the machine to operate stand-alone and not depend on the network.
- Landline – phone line for each workspace with Teleconference facility for key works stations.
- GSM phone – data capacity to provide independent Internet if required (Standby Internet).
General Rules Applicable to the Crises Centre
- Whilst in the emergency facility, all work / personal mobile phones must be set to silent mode.
Note – They should not be used as the primary method of Crises Centre Contacting.
- Assigned “emergency response use only” email addresses should be available for use at each assigned workstation.
Note 1 – The emergency assigned emails will be used throughout the emergency rather than the normal assigned business email. (Staff should still be able to access their normal work email account for continuity purposes)
Note 2 – Implement ‘out of office’ notification as well as redirection details on your normal email account.
