What are the services which Sofema Aviation Services www.sassofia.com provides?

Sofema Aviation Services offers quality audit services and training including our renowned Train the Trainer Program covering all areas including maintenance and operational environments.

All aviation auditing schemes possess some common features. We must first have requirements for the standards which relate to the item, activity, process or organization.

This “Standard” is sometimes referred to as the criteria of the audit. We must also have available any “facts” relating to the implementation of the criteria and by this we mean the process and procedures documentation.

Typically these evidences are in the form of regulatory requirements, for example EASA or FAA requirements, or as Company specific requirements found in the form of company operational manuals or documented procedures.

What Takes Place during an Audit?

When you review the actual situation (the evidences or facts) and compare to the requirements you make a determination that what you see is either quite ok or it is in fact a discrepancy or “finding”. Another way is to consider you are performing a Gap Analysis. The observation you make may be good or bad, means it may result in a finding or discrepancy or on the other hand to indicate conformity.

The key to successful Aviation Audit Processes as well as how to be effective as an auditor is related to how the auditor deals with the facts and information as presented.

A detailed understanding of the information that is provided can lead to an awareness of the shortfalls within the audited subject or material.

Effective auditors are able to integrate all the information around them including any observations, end results of a process, sightings, and even sometimes gut feelings, and from this information to draw the appropriate conclusions.

Audits may be internal or external to the organization and there are significant differences.

The internal audit is performed within your own company, an internal audit may extend beyond pure compliance – This is an ideal area for discussion.

An external audit may be performed on a supplier or service provider.

Some times audits are a pre requisite to performing business for example a code share audit. ISO 9001:2015 provides a set of standardized requirements for a quality management system.

The organization needs to have the flexibility to delivers its own system respecting the specific difference within the organization and even the different cultures which may be found.

The organization shall be able to independently carry out “self audits” against the various requirements to identify any shortfalls and to ensure the it is following its process and procedures and is fully in control of its internal systems.
