China Express Airlines (G5, Chongqing) intends to sell the entirety of its ownership in the training tech unit Huaxia Aviation Education Technology Industry Co. Ltd., to related entity Huaxia Yunyi International Education Technology Co. Ltd., for CNY604.43 million yuan (USD84.1 million), according to a February 21 filing. Read more

Gannon University has launched a new Aviation & Business Management degree program. In a partnership with Fundamentals Flight Training at Erie International Airport (KERI), the program is slated to take flight in the fall of 2024. Read more

> Singapore and Supernal Develop Advanced Air Mobility
Supernal, the advanced air mobility division of Korea’s Hyundai Motor Group, is partnering with Singapore officials to lay the groundwork for new eVTOL air services. On Tuesday at the Singapore Airshow, the company signed a pair of memorandums of understanding with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS). > Airlines cancel 12 Mumbai routes due to congestion; airfares rise 193%
Airfares have nearly doubled in a matter of days on routes hit by the cancellation of 200 weekly flights linking Mumbai airport to 12 cities. The fares have soared as high as 193 per cent following a recent government order to cancel flights to ease “persistent congestion” that was causing delays. Read more

> Maverick Helicopters Expands Air Tours into SoCal
Air tour and charter operator Maverick Helicopters has expanded to Southern California with daily flights from its terminals in Long Beach, adjacent to the Queen Mary, and Avalon on Catalina Island. Additional departure points across the greater Los Angeles area include LAX, Orange County, Burbank, San Pedro, Hawthorne, and Santa Monica, with tour packages and transfer flights ranging from $199 to $379 per passenger. > Canadian Airline Lynx Air To Shut Down After 2 Years
Canadian ultra-low-cost carrier Lynx Air has succumbed to financial strain and market pressure and decided to end operations. The airline will operate its last flight on Sunday and will cease operations after that. The budget carrier started operations two years ago, and its demise is another example of just how ruthless the airline industry can be. Read more

> New Fuel Efficiency Certification Rules Apply to Bizav
Some business jets and large turboprop aeroplanes are included in new FAA final rules that enact Environmental Protection Agency-prescribed fuel efficiency certification requirements. The rules take effect on April 16 and apply to certain subsonic jet aeroplanes with a maximum takeoff weight greater than 5,700 kilograms (22,500 pounds) and to certain turboprop aeroplanes with a weight greater than 8,618 kilograms (19,000 pounds).
