EASA Part 21 Subpart J Regulatory Framework – 3 Days


Subpart J regulatory approval provides for the Design of Aircraft and Components Design Organisation Approval (DOA). The responsibilities associated with the management of a Design Organisation are numerous and varied with a constant flow of challenges.

The primary function of the DOA holder is to assume full responsibility for all designed products (Initial Airworthiness) including the need to support Continued Airworthiness of the designed product.

As the Owner of the certification responsibility related to the product part or appliance, it is essential to ensure full compliance with all regulatory requirements, national and environmental requirements as well as all related certification specifications.

Part 21 which is essentially harmonised with FAR 21 in so much as the shared objectives was created to deliver efficient certification processes with a reduced (in comparison to FAR 21) Direct EASA certification oversight.
