Introduction –
It is a requirement to manage competence within an EASA Part 147 Organisation and to demonstrate compliance with Annex to ED Decision 2012/004/R Appendix III.
This 1 day training presented by Sofema Aviation Services provides a comprehensive understanding of the requirement to deliver an effective organisational Competence Management to ensure the effective Management and Measurement of Competencies within the 147 organisation.
It also provides an effective understanding regarding industry best practice techniques to prepare your nominated Competence Assessors and Managers to deliver effective Competence Management and control within your organisation.
In accordance with the regulatory requirements of EASA Part 147 The roles may be combined for:
The assessor and the instructor for the practical elements of the Type Rating Training;
Or The assessor and the supervisor for the On-the-Job Training. Providing that the objectives associated with each role are clearly understood and that the competence and qualification criteria according to the company’s procedures are met for both functions.
As part of the Competence Management Process the individual needs of each instructor should be ascertained at both the initial and annual competency review when typically the Instructor personal development will be discussed and any associated training need assessed.

Target Groups –
This course will be of significant benefit to EASA Part 147 Training Managers, Quality Managers and Competence Assessment staff who require to have the necessary background and skills to manage a Competence Assessment Program or perform Competence assessment within an EASA Part 147 organisation.
The training will also be of direct interest to Quality Audit Staff who are required to audit Part 147 in particular competence assessment and management processes.
Pre-requisites –
A background in commercial aviation together with a general awareness of the regulatory is an advantage.
Learning Objectives –
The objective of the training is to provide the delegate with an understanding of the process and methodology whereby the Competence may be fully managed across all aspects of the EASA 147 organisation.
