Introduction
With the introduction of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/270 and Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2019/1383 amending Regulation (EU) No 1321/2014, we have a new structure to consider in the domain of Continuing Airworthiness (CAW).
Effective 24 March 2020 we have two specific organisations, Part- Combined Airworthiness Organisation (Part CAO) and Part- Continuing Airworthiness Management Organisation (Part CAMO).
Whatās New in Part CAMO?
As we may be aware Part CAMO is essentially replacing the old Part M Subpart G with the mandatory transition completing by 24th March 2022.
The new area of focus related to Part CAMO is the introduction of a management system (similar in fact to that found in OPS 965/2012) as well as a Safety Management System (SMS) fully integrated into the management system.
Additional focus is placed on the management of competence throughout the business and including all roles and responsibilities, such focus has introduced the need for a number of new training courses including Safety Investigation for CAMO SMS Staff and Human Factors & SMS Combined training for all CAMO employees.
Focus is also placed on the need to develop improved reporting process to demonstrate compliance with regulation EU 376/2014 ā please see the following for additional guidance:
