Why the Accountable Manager Should be Involved in The Training Policy & Program.

In an aviation organisation, the role of the training manager is typically reactive rather than proactive so how can the organisation ensure that the training program meets the overall needs of the organisation rather than being managed as a simple compliance tool?

The organization should ideally align the employee training program not just to meet regulatory obligations but to also ensure the program is meeting the organisation’s business objectives.

  • This will help to ensure that the training program is not just a compliance tool but also contributes to the overall success of the organization.
  • Without oversight and due diligence on behalf of the accountable manager, the outcome is often suboptimal.

The Accountable Manager’s Role

The AM is responsible for ensuring that the organization meets all regulatory requirements and that the organization’s training program is effective in addressing the organization’s needs.

The AM should also ensure that the training program addresses the organization’s specific requirements. This, in turn, can improve the effectiveness of the organization’s operations, reduce errors, and improve safety.

It is therefore crucial for the Accountable Manager (AM) to be proactive in identifying the organization’s training policy and training needs for several reasons. Moreover, this responsibility shouldn’t be seconded to a team member without proper oversight and consideration. Here’s why:
